Matthew Mayfield is a singer-songwriter from Birmingham, Alabama, originally the lead singer of Moses Mayfield before the band disbanded in 2008. Rather than give up, he reinvented himself as a solo artist, self-releasing a string of EPs that repeatedly topped the iTunes singer/songwriter charts, with fans funding the project through Pledge Music. His debut full-length, Now You're Free, followed in 2010, and he has continued recording and touring independently ever since.
